Disney Christmas Tales

How about taking advantage of the time of year to (re) read a collection of Christmas tales by master Carl Barks? All the classic stories designed and written by the "Man of Paos" as he was affectionately called? I'm talking about the bound Disney Christmas Tales, released by Abril (when the publisher published the Disney comics), part of jma of the most beautiful collections published here.
Christmas Tales Disney is no longer in the April catalog (the publisher no longer publishes Disney, remember?) Even the signature is not hard to find. You find it in bookstores, specialty stores and on the internet. My copy was purchased like this and with a good discount.

Ducks Christmas

I already talked about Carl Barks, one of America's top comic books, so I won't be long. Just know that the guy was a self-taught, who began his career in Disney animations and tired of this life migrated to comics. There he made history, the guy made a career publishing Donald Duck and his three nephews, hence the nickname Duck Man, Barks was responsible for giving the personality that everyone has.
Uncle Carl, as it is affectionately called, I create Scrooge Scrooge, Gaston, Metralha Brothers, Margarida, Patopolis, as well as most of its residents. Basically he built a universe by himself!
The bookbinder brings 35 stories set in the holiday. One of the main characteristics of bark tales is the humanity of your ducks (you understand). Carl was averse to Christmas marketing, nor did we find biblical trajectories, which we see are only humanitarian moments.
In the first story The Best Christmas, Donald decides to have supper at the house of Grandma Donalda (another creation of Barks) and takes his sled nephews through the snow, there in the anas the duck fumbles and almost dies frozen, being saved by a very family poor. his nephews share the food and the gift (unbeknownst to Donald), while the duck only thought about the goodies it would have.
We have a very twisted story titled Christmas Surprise where Donald is working on a lighthouse, he realizes he forgot to ask for gifts from his nephews (who are with him), unintentionally disappointing them the duck in sailor clothes tries everything but a storm and a disturbed Albatross can destroy Christmas, or not! Once again we find the human interest.
This is the tone of the plots of Donald Duck and his nephews, one for lingering, warm-headed, unprepared for raising children and who always lives hard, yet he agrees to raise three children (true little brats, but with a strong love for him) without blink, the comic and innocent tone works in favor of the love each of them has.
At no point do you see Donald killing himself to give the impossible to the children, on the contrary he doesn't have much and always says no, put it to real, forcing the children to accept the limits and understand that it is love that dictates the relationship (the parents today need to read these stories).

Uncle Scrooge's Debut

The fourth story is a must have for anyone who likes comics or who has watched Duck Tales Christmas in the Mountains (1947) after the debut of Uncle
Scrooge, a bitter old man who hates Christmas: he says the date is a pretext for playing. money out; The quillionaire is cloistered in his mansion when he has an idea. Have fun at Donald's expense.
The paro sailor is with his nephews, out of food and out of money, lamenting his rich uncle not remembering them when an invitation comes to a cottage. Of course it's a trap, what no one expects is the presence of a real bear. I won't spoil it, but know that the first episode of the classic Duck Tales series drinks from this comic.
Duck Tales is a great tribute to the work of Carl Barks, I talked about it here, in the drawing the nephews comment that his uncle has had many adventures in the past - exactly!
The next story is also historical, we have the first appearance of the goose goose, since the first story the two do not get along, during the bound comes a witch who destroys Christmas trees, Donald returning the gifts of his nephews, a neighbor to the factory Santa Claus, where the intention is to play. the three nephews trying to find a way out of gifts. Yes, Uncle Scrooge returns in other stories, already appeased with the boys and their nephew.
Do you like Christmas magic? Human interest? Inspiring stories? Simple humor for the whole family? Read Disney Christmas Tales or look for Carl Barks stories, they're worth a childhood comeback.
